    Stadium and Field Names

Okay, this just came up to me tonight after catching the end of the Weir-Edison game in Richmond. For the most part, the Ohio Valley (and much of eastern Ohio) proudly recognizes the names of the fields or stadiums the teams play at. With signage or other such recognition. However, for Edison, a quick glance and I can't fathom what it's official name might be.

And this got me thinking, what exact is the name of the field or stadium of every OVAC school. So, for participation, post your school and their field name. Any information on the choice of the name, previous names, previous stadium, etc.

Some are well known and obvious (Harding Stadium, Wheeling Island Stadium), but some I know but would have to look up. Or, in Edison's case, can't seem to find it quickly. So, felt this could be a brief guide of sorts. Any other info about your school's field (alignment, seating capacity, grass, turf, track, etc).

                    Bridgeport:

Jobko Gridiron at Perkins Field. Land was donated by the Perkins Family. According to legal stuff, if the name ever was changed the property would go back to the Perkins Family, if there are still any living members(?). Named Jobko gridiron a few years back after Bill Jobko who went on to play in the NFL.

Cartwright Field (Edison) is named for former Jefferson Union athletic director Bill Cartwright. Bill played at Miami of Ohio before official records were kept but had some accomplishments as a running back that would still stand today. He served as AD for his beloved Yellow Jackets for many years. Bill had a heart attack and passed away in the pressbox while preparing for a game. When strange sounds occur or unexplained things happen at the school, many people believe that it is the ghost of Bill watching over the kids that he cared so much about.
