Ironton is a good team and unless Ferry's passing game takes it a notch up that will be their fate. You can't run the ball the whole game!

Ok genius whatever you say but I can quote you chapter and verse of state championship teams that win while throwing less than you would like to believe!!!!!!! It's not all Madden football!!!! Went to 4 D1 games last week and other than a team falling behind late and needing to score multipleTD's there was no passing StX won 24-0 over St eds and threw 5 times!!! Hudson beat the crap out of Mentor with 7 passes!!!! I still believe you can run the ball, run the clock, win the game!!! My eyes have seen it done over and over and over again!!!! Sorry but it may bore you all but it's a fact!!!!

purplesage, they think that the long bus trip will take something out of them ,what they don't realize is that this team has been all over this part of the state this year. let them go ahead and think that this is going to be an easy win....other then bill bruney retiring , i do not know of any other changes .....as far as popcorn goes. i work in a local store and hardly any one sells popcorn at their concession stands. of all the other stuff there is to eat why do you people keep harping on popcorn.

Just read every post on SEOP and sounds to me like we are getting much respect from all but one poster!!! Last time we went there they were very much on a roll as a program and they pounded us pretty much in every way but lately this Ironton team has been a roller coaster team!!! They seem to go as there turnover ratio goes!!! Several ball possession issues from what I'm reading but sometimes they even it out on defense!!!! I also think we may be mirror images of each other as they are also a power run first team!!! Should be a good one!!!!

Ironton has a very good football program, but much like Martins Ferry, not a great deal of success in the playoffs. I believe in the last 12 years or so, Ironton has made 3-4 regional finals without winning any and Ferry has made 2, winning 1 (and should've won the other). I known that doesn't mean a whole lot, but I think this game will be far from a blowout. Ironton isn't as big and bad as they used to be, Ferry will be in this game.

Ironton has two state titles. Ferry hasn't even come close to that.

I still stand by my belief that Ferry's best team ever was the one twenty years ago. They lost a close game to Buckeye Local, and BL made the D2 finals. Their other loss was to the defending D5 champs, Steubenville Catholic.

Ferry has a chance though.

I am from Ironton, but have been a member of this board for a long time. I rarely ever post, but this seems to be the perfect week to. I enjoy playing teams from the valley because they are similar to us in size and economy of towns, passion for our teams, and tradition. Us Ironton folks are also familiar with the Bruney family dating back to the mid 60's, when there was a head coach named Bruney in Ironton. When you all play Bellaire on Saturdays (yes, I know that's at Bellaire...as your eyes collectively roll) I bring my sons up and watch the games. I have been to numerous games between the Big Red and the Purple Riders, including the 100th meeting. I can promise you that everyone in Ironton that has any football sense respects the valley football and the Purple Riders. I wish you all a safe trip down and sure hope that you find the people accommodating and hospitable, but the football team much less so. Any questions about Ironton, lodging, eating, etc. please feel free to ask and I will answer for the small fee of bringing me some Undo's! Totally kidding (unless you are willing)!
