I have an opinion. Don’t have to agree. Doesn’t make me stupid and it definitely does not mean I’m talking badly about local kids. I didn’t bring Nate Davis name to the thread just said how moronic it was to compare when he was all Ohio it was literally 20-24 kids per division. Not the over 180-200 kids that get selected in this era of 3 teams, special and honorable mention.

Ive seen most kids we discuss play. I watch all divisions of hoops, OVSO and others do a good job promoting our area these days. Gonna be some good upcoming semis and finals in the OVAC.

I love an underdog story and with Vincent I have followed him since Ferry.My main point is the guy you’re saying can’t play at that level has given a lot of work to the guys you all talk about.As a fan of the game thought that’s what your supposed to do, just like I travel to watch Sancomb and Haney. I mean I have witnessed it with my own eyes. In games, throughout the summer, at camps etc. now of course your not going to know that because it doesn’t get put out there.

So if he isn’t “very skilled” how does one do that??? I’ve never seen a limited skilled kid drop 40 in a HS game

I don’t ever say anything remotely about kids. Simply that there is a major difference between D6-D7 to the upper divisions. That’s reality. Ball will never be Ball. You can talk about all these players from 15-20 years ago when those schools were mostly in 2 divisions higher than they are now.

So you’re talking about team success again? I’m confused he had 38 on a crazy night where him and Vincent went for 19 points each back to back in the first quarter it was awesome. Was that supposed to be a “gotcha”?. Bport played zone while CCHS face guarded Vincent with Rook and an endurance runner still scoring 25 on 67% from 3 and 53% overall . Rook isn’t very skilled outside of their offense does that mean I can’t like him still? No he’s a good high school player but that’s all. And that’s ok. If you’re trying to compare the two that’s not good either because in the same competition Rook just got his 1k after 4 years Vincent is on pace to get his this year. Again that’s ok. It’s weird how much credit you give them but shouldnt l because their schedule is significantly worse than Bridgeports outside of one matchup that is grandfathered in with Steubenville. Also that’s ok, but the thing you have to choose what we are talking about team success or individual play because as long as I can remember guys don’t go to the next level whatever that may be solely because their team won games. This is the last thing im going to say about all of it, I’m still ingratiated with the youth today and I’m around a lot of these guys through the summer and during the season. So for some random fan that only talks on message boards to try and create a hierarchy off of OVSO and News9 is actually laughable. If you want to continue talking I would be more than happy to have a phone call or direct message with you but I’m not going to keep back and forth clogging the forum with your hate for specific kids. You do understand that basketball is a team sport right? You can be the absolute best player in the world without some help you will get yours and have limited team success. Idc if the kid can hoop or not that’s not the point here lol idk what that kid did to you but it’s the fact that their are guys who are dogs at every division and go on to have success at the next level. There are guys that are dogs at every division and end up at State Farm. There is no predetermined potential for a kid based on their school size period.

Simply incorrect. When watching valley games through an unbiased lens, there's talent on teams with the enrollment of 100 students and 1600 students. I think of Weir (601 enrollment) beating Wheeling Park (1492 enrollment) as a perfect example. I have a feeling your statement "ball will never be ball" will be lifted this Wednesday when Steubenville (699 enrollment) faces Wheeling Park (1492 enrollment). With your logic, WP should have a cakewalk with this small school vs big school nonsense. Wait, but a smaller school like BR could have better players than WP with half the enrollment? Just using these two as an example, but there are countless small schools in the valley that have extremely talented teams/players.

By your logic. Why aren’t the 1A and 2A’s in the OVAC scheduling 4A and 5A all year long every year?? Why is the bulk of there schedules 1A and 2 A and vice verse with 4A and 5A. We can do this in all sports as well.

I tend to agree with Malkin on this one, small school hoops vs big school hoops is a completely different ball game. That being said there are absolutely some small schools that have great teams and great players who can go to the next level and play but it’s significantly harder for that to happen playing the weaker competition.
