Bellaire has not beat anyone with a winning record yet and probably won't.... I don't know much about Shadysides program other than they're on fire now.... EL has a brutal schedule ahead of them and only won a total of 8 games in 4 years before Asher arrived...AND let's not forget the paying players scandal before he arrived... You talk about a city/team with a black eye to overcome.... He won 4 last year and 5 so far this year.

While jose is doing a fine job resurrecting the once mighty big reds, need it be reminded that we here in east liverpool r still in the ovac and yes just opened the paper today and the potters are ranked 12th in div iii. Coach asher has to get the nod if the potters close the deal like they should and finish 8-2 or better.

That's a great point Peeper.
I think E. Liverpool deserves great consideration -- HOWEVER, I think everybody knew that their meteoric rise was coming. Why do you think they had so many candidates for the head coach position?
I'd rank the coach of the year award as follows:
1) Jose Davis (Bellaire)
2) Mike McKenzie (Edison)
3) Mark Asher (E. Liverpool)
4) Vavrock (Sp?) Bridgeport
5) Durdines (Donahue)
Give Assistant coach of the year to Stickles who moved from Oak Glen to Edison this year. Guarantee the energy he brought to that program has pushed them over the edge. Or you could give it to Pierro at Big Red - WHAT A DEFENSE!!!"The Price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it" -Henry David Thoreau

I think Shadyside could earn the right - the season is still young.
Even though Bellaire isn't beating great teams - the fact that they are winning against the odds stacked against them by everybody this summer is astonishing. My honest opinion.
Shadyside has been solid for the last 5 years - if you could give a "5 year award" they would be right up there.
My favorite shadyside win is over WCC in 2008."The Price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it" -Henry David Thoreau

1. Mike McKenzie (Edison)
2. Mark Asher (East Liverpool)
3.) Brett McLean (St.C)
4.) Jose Davis (Bellaire)
5.) Rudy Vavrock (Bridgeport)
I vote McKenzie one because Edison was terrible. I vote Asher as EL is back to prominance and had scandal. I vote Brett 3 because St.C was not a playoff team last year and they are now state ranked and mowing through people. Jose 4 because he has done amazing and if not for Edison and EL being on an upswing he would be higher. Vavrock five because the Dogs have won games they wouldn't have been guessed to win.
Also special mention to Holenka since even Tigers homers were saying this was going to be a bad year in Tigertown...Goodnight Canada!

Undefeated.....they have bpt and WC upcoming. Those two games will be good.
Jose Davis has done a good job but when you beat people with all losing records...what are you accomplishing?
If Bellaire was supposed to be "Good" this year I'd agree. That's def not the case.. Most thought they'd go 0-10 or 1-9 therefore it's pretty simple... Bellaire wins 6 games Jose should be COY!
