Wheeling -New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) scored seven of its thirteen goals in the second period to upend Wheeling Jesuit 13-8 Saturday afternoon.
Matt Sullivan scored two goals and had six assists for the Bears – three times setting up Austin Carino, who scored five goals on the day. Kevin Hennessy added three goals for NYIT, including the game’s first goal.
Wheeling Jesuit was led in scoring by Eric Jenkins with a hat trick, and Jeff Arneson notched two goals and three assists. In addition, John Dunbar, Shawn Grimm, and Charles Joyce all found the back of the net for the Cards, while Dunbar and Grimm collected assists. Rounding out the assist column were Colin Jack and Josh Ringling.
Austin Grimes led the Cardinals with seven ground balls while Colin Jack and Josh Lambert picked up five loose balls each.
Senior goalie Joe Sims made his last appearance between the pipes, collecting 13 saves while suffering the loss.
