WHEELING, WV – Ohio struck first by the legs of DeShaun Lewis, in what would turn out to be a big day for the Cambridge graduate.
After being down 6-0, West Virginia took advantage of two Ohio turnovers in the 2nd quarter to take the lead and the momentum from the Buckeyes. The West Virginia All Stars entered halftime up 14-13 as John Marshall’s Aaron Fonner hit Wheeling Central’s Erik Gompers.
Ohio struck first in the 3rd quarter with a touchdown run by the legs of DaShaun Lewis. Ohio failed on their 2-point attempt, taking the lead 19-14. On the ensuing possession, the Buckeye’s picked off a pass by Wheeling Park’s Lee Peluchette, marching down the field for DeShaun Lewis’s 3rd touchdown of the game, increasing Ohio’s lead 26-14.
After a West Virginia blocked punt, Ohio scored again by Buckeye Local’s, Jordan Bertolini. The Buckeye’s closed out the 3rd quarter with a 33-14 advantage over the Mountaineers.
After an exchange of turnovers from both Teams, the 4th quarter would remain scoreless.
