The Pirates capped off their season with one final loss. The loss put the Bucs over the 105-loss mark and into the record books as the worst Pirate team in nearly 60 years. Not since the 1952 Bucs that went 42-112 has the team lost so many. Only two teams in their history have lost more than this year Pirates team.
The 17 road wins is also the lowest in Major League history when playing a full 162 game season.
Brian Burres allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings. A poorly place ball in the first inning to Dan Uggla was drilled for a two run homer.
The Pirates would add runs in the second and fifth inning to tie the ballgame 2-2. But Wes Helms would drive in a run on a ground rule double. Initially the play was ruled a three run homer, but instant replay overturned the call.
The Pirates would not bounce back after that losing 5-2 as the Marlins added two more runs in the seventh.
