If you are any kind of fan of Ohio Valley Athletics you know by now how much we love hockey. We are proud to bring you a story of a couple local girls getting ready for the biggest stage.
Later this month two Marshall County girls will be playing in the USA Hockey National Championships in Anaheim, CA.
Lindsey Landis plays for the Steel City Selects 19U Tier 2 team. Entering the Mid Am District Tournament, the Steel City Selects were ranked 11TH in the nation by myhockeyrankings.com. In the Mid Am District Tournament, the SCS defeated CYHA out of Columbus, Armstrong out of Pittsburgh and Gilmour Academy out of Cleveland to win their bid for Nationals. Lindsey is a Senior at John Marshall High School and resides in Moundsville.
Maggie Turner plays for the South Pittsburgh Rebellion 14U Tier 2 team. Entering the Mid Am District Tournament, the Rebellion were ranked 30TH in the nation by myhockeyrankings.com. They defeated the 10TH – ranked Steel City Selects, 1-0, in the Mid-Am tournament and went on to win all four of their games in that competition. Maggie Turner is a Freshman at John Marshall High School and resides in Wheeling.
Lindsey and Maggie both played together for the Wheeling Amateur Hockey Association (WAHA) before aging out of the girls’ programs.
The National Championship will be held March 29th – April 3rd.
