For the past 160 years, St. Clairsville has been the site for the Belmont County fair. Marking the 160 anniversary would also be the final year for the fair to be held at the ‘old’ site. This would also be the 36th meeting between rivals St. Clairsville and Union Local.
St. Clairsville came into the game leading the all time series with 24 wins, to Union Locals 10 wins, and the two teams share a Tie from the 1974 game. Union Local entered the game riding a 2 game regular season win streak over the Devils, and a early perfect 2-0 record to St. Clairsville split 1-1 mark.
For the large crowd on hand, they got every second worth, as the Jets took a late lead with only 21 seconds left in the game to take a 19-16 lead that would end up being the games final as the clock ran out. Union Local advances to 3-0, and showing that they are becoming a local power. St.Clairsville meanwhile falls to 1-2 after entering the season with high hopes and expectations.
The player of the game was Union Locals QB Kyle Copeland who had 292 passing yards for the Jets high powered passing offense.
