SLIPPERY ROCK, PA – On Thursday evening the Wheeling Jesuit softball team dropped a pair of games to Slippery Rock University by scores of 5-1 and 15-0 at the SRU Softball Complex.
In the first game, Stacy Spicer, Jarah Ice, and Erika Jusko led the Lady Cards’ offensive efforts with two hits apiece. The trio accounted for six of WJU’s eight total hits, and Jusko’s RBI single in the top of the sixth plated the Cardinals only run, scoring Jaime Donato, who singled. Samantha Macioce also singled.
In the nightcap, SRU pitcher, Shaylee Ianno, tossed five shutout innings while WJU’s Ice broke-up the no-hitter. Ianno fanned nine of the 19 Cardinal hitters who stepped to the plate and handed-out three free passes.
The Lady Cardinals will host Shepherd University on Saturday, March 24th at the I-470 Complex. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
