Heading into spring practice, the Toledo football program has a good problem, Coach Beckman says that he has 4 people capable of playing the quarterback position.
The #1 position is unannounced, but expected to be a battle between Austin Dantin and Terrance Ownes. Dantin started out the 2010 season before being injured, with Owens playing well in the reserve roll.
Coach Beckman acknowledged that Dantin and Owens are the front runners, but he didn’t ignore that he has several good options at the QB position.
When asked who would be his starting QB in the fall, Beckman said;
…Nobody knows about Redshirt Freshman Dwight Macon, but he has the capability of being a really good quarterback. Depth wise, we are probably as good as we’ve ever been at quarterback. We may have different quarterbacks for different situations and different packages.
Don’t be surprised to see Macon on the field for the Rockets this fall!
