WEST LIBERTY, WV – The West Liberty University volleyball team stepped out of conference Tuesday night and dropped a 3-0 decision to Ohio Dominican at the ASRC.
The Lady Hilltoppers dug themselves into an early hole with losses in the first two games by scores of 25-19 and 25-20. Coach Brooke Turner’s hosts pushed the Columbus-based visitors to the limit and beyond in game three but the Ohio squad pulled out a 27-25 decision to close out the match.
Melissa Pierzchala led West Liberty with 10 kills and a dozen digs. Chelsea Byrge and Heather Tolson turned in 12 and 11 assists, respectively, while Emily Mellie was charted with four blocks.
The Hilltoppers return to West Virginia Conference action on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match at the University of Charleston.
