The Steelers picked the right time of the season to find their stride.
With New England and Baltimore coming to Heinz Field the next two weekends, the Steelers rolled off their third straight win with a 32-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals.
“Perfect by no stretch,” said Head Coach Mike Tomlin. “I think we are improving and finding ways to win along the way. The arrow is pointing up and we need to continue moving in that direction.”
Ben Roethlisberger threw for 361 yards and three touchdowns included a 95 yard touchdown to Mike Wallace, which is the longest touchdown pass in Steelers history.
“It’s fun to get those plays,” said Roethlisberger. “You put it out there for a guy like that, he makes a play and you just kind of start smiling because you know he’s not going to be caught. Those are always fun plays.”
“I just turned on the burners and just tried to get over the top,” said Wallace. “Sometimes when you play people who haven’t played against me before, they see it on tape and they think it’s a game. It’s real out there.”
The defense is starting to play as a more confident group as they registered two sacks, an interception by Ryan Clark and a safety.
“We played pretty good,” LB LaMarr Woodley said of the defense. “We had an opportunity to get a few more turnovers out there and kind of let it out. But make those corrections and come back next week against a good team.”
The Steelers now return back to Heinz Field next Sunday and face Tom Brady and the 5-1 New England Patriots.
