PITTSBURGH — Right-hander Kevin Correia has been activated from the 60-day disabled list. Correia ended the season on the DL with a left strained oblique he suffered on August 20th.
Correia went 12-11 with a 4.79 ERA in 27 games (26 starts) in his first season in Pittsburgh. Correia had a solid first half of the season, sporting a 4.01 ERA but after the All-Star break, Correia’s ERA jumped to 7.23 in seven starts.
The Pirates 40-man roster currently sits at 34. The empty spots on the roster will be filled with free-agent signings this winter, as well as prospects the organization want to protect in the Rule 5 draft next month. The deadline to add the prospects is by November 20th.
