Ohio Valley Athletics is excited to promote a weekend fundraising event for a special local organization, one that provides both equipment and opportunity to Marshall County student athletes in need.
Spearheaded by Denise Phillips, Stephanie’s All-Stars was created in memory of the late Stephanie Phillips Eddy, Denise’s daughter, whose love of softball inspired her family and friends into action. Since its launch in February, the donation run organization has helped dozens of youth athletes acquire the equipment to participate in their chosen sport.
To participate, families should first go to the group’s website stephaniesallstars.weebly.com, where they can apply on the Registration tab. The form asks for the child’s name, guardian’s name, the child’s school, what sport they are interested in and equipment they need, and a phone number. Once approved, Stephanie’s All-Stars will award the child a Dunham’s gift card for their equipment and related purchases.
Aligning with Ovathletics.com’s goals of promoting and supporting area student athletes, Stephine’s All Stars has big plans for the Ohio Valley, ones that will assist youth athletes across multiple counties. They are hoping to expand the organization’s reach into Wetzel county, then the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia, and eventually open it up to the greater Ohio Valley. But they can’t do it without help.
Stephanie’s All-Stars latest event, a softball tournament, will take place this Saturday October 8th at East End ball field in Moundsville, 236 Curtis Ave. Moundsville, WV 26041. Games will start at 9a.m. and run through 3p.m., with food trucks, raffles, and a bake sale throughout the day. All proceeds from the weekend will go to support Stephanie’s All-Stars in continuing their mission and aiding athletes. While attendance is free, donations are absolutely welcome and appreciated.
