PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women’s basketball team locked up its sixth consecutive 20-win season Monday night with a 74-49 thrashing of Alderson-Broaddus at the Battlers’ Rex Pyles Arena.
Tori Hansen had 16 points and 11 rebounds while Meghan Wiseman added 16 points and 5 blocked shots as Coach Lynn Ullom’s Hilltoppers (20-4, 15-3) reached 20 wins for the 11th time in the past 12 seasons.
West Liberty never trailed but the scrappy Battlers (2-21, 2-17) were able to keep things close for much of a sloppily-played opening half.
The Hilltoppers used a late spurt to take a 35-24 lead at intermission and then scored 26 of the first 36 points in the second half to put the game on ice.
Hansen’s double-double was her 13th of the season – a WVIAC-best – and fifth in the last six games.
Wiseman hit double-figures for the ninth consecutive game while the 5 blocked shots gave her 11 in the last two games, placing her fifth among West Liberty’s career leaders with 110 blocks.
Mattison Chilton came off the bench to add a career-high 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor while Jenni Robbins rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points.
Ashley Prince was the lone double-figure scorer for Alderson-Broaddus with 11 points.
The West Liberty women return home to host West Virginia State on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. at the ASRC.
