BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College football program and third-year head coach Bill Garvey have announced the Bison’s 2016 slate of games. The schedule features five home dates at Bethany’s Bison Stadium, as well as the return of the reigning conference champions, Thomas More College, to the schedule.
Thanks to the additions of conference members Carnegie Mellon University and Case Western Reserve two years ago, the Bison now play just one team not affiliated with the PAC. In the 2016 campaign, the Green & White will open a home-and-home series with Ursinus College. The meeting, scheduled for September 3, will mark the first ever between the Bison and the Bears of the Centennial Conference, and is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
Following the meeting with Ursinus, Bethany will make back-to-back road trips to Geneva and Thiel. The matchup with the Golden Tornadoes, scheduled for September 10 at Reeves Field (7 p.m.), will serve as the Bison’s other “non-conference” game. Bethany will then open their PAC slate of games at Alumni Stadium in Greenville, Pa., on September 17. The game with the Tomcats will mark the first conference game between the two schools since 2013, and is marked for a 1:00 p.m. start.
The Green & White will then host Westminster College on September 24 (6:00 p.m.) before traveling to Carnegie Mellon for the second consecutive year on October 1 (6:00 p.m.).
Bethany’s Homecoming weekend is slated for Saturday, October 8, when the Bison will welcome the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University. The 2016 Bethany Hall of Fame class will also be announced during the weekend, with the game scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start.
After Homecoming weekend, the Bison will play consecutive games on the road against Washington & Jefferson College and Thomas More. Bethany and the Presidents will square off at Cameron Stadium on October 15 at 6:00 p.m.
Following the team’s bye week on October 22, the Bison will travel to take on the Saints for the first time since the 2013 campaign. Kickoff for the game at BB&T Field is will be announced at a later time.
Bethany will end the season with back-to-back home games against Grove City and Saint Vincent. The Bison will host the Wolverines on November 5 at 1:30 p.m., with Senior Day against the Bearcats scheduled for November 12 at 1:00 p.m.
