WEXFORD, Pa. – After posting a 4-0 record last week and putting the Bethany College softball team in position to secure the top seed for the PAC Tournament, sophomore Emily Jump (Milford, Del./Polytech) was named the PAC Pitcher of the Week for May 2nd for the second time this season.
The sophomore right-hander’s big week started when she tossed all 14 innings in the Bison’s 7-6 win at Waynesburg April 25. Jump then threw six innings and allowed one unearned run on three hits in BC’s 4-2 triumph over Chatham April 28.
Jump’s week closed with a flourish, as the led Bethany to a sweep over previous PAC leader Thomas More on April 29. She blanked the Saints on three hits and struck out four in a 1-0 triumph. The Bison then strengthened their grip on the top spot in the conference by taking two over Washington & Jefferson April 30, highlighted by Jump’s four-hitter in a 4-1 game-one victory.
For the week, she threw 34 innings and posted a 1.44 ERA in earning the four victories. Jump then continued her hot streak on Monday by hurling a three-hit shutout in an 8-0 triumph over Thiel that clinched the top seed for Bethany and hosting rights for this weekend’s PAC Tournament.
Now with wins in six straight decisions and nine of her last 10, Jump’s record stands at 15-6 entering the tournament. She has a 3.13 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 143 frames of work this year.
A physical education major, Emily is the daughter of Gary & Cindy Ingram and Jonathan & Karen Jump.
