Caldwell vs Shenandoah
This one was a pretty good game but all the offense in this one came from Caldwell. They win it 4-0 to advance to the finals this Saturday vs. Martins Ferry.
Jedan Haught hits a solo homerun to give Caldwell a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning.
Sydney Saling stately gets a base hit and an RBI in the 4th to take the score to 2-0.
With 2 runners on in the 7th Saling adds another base hit and 2 more RBI’s as drives in the two base runners to make the final 4-0.
Edison vs. Indian Creek
The upset of the day happened when fourth seeded Edison upended Indian Creek.
The first inning proved to be decisive when Audrey Scott nailed a 2-out 2-run double to put the Wildcats up early.
Creek’s Alexis Dawson answered in the bottom of the first with a RBI single herself.
After that the pitching took over with Edison’s Katie Fluharty having a day. She sat down 11 with strikeouts and only gave up one walk in 7 innings.
This was all that was needed on the day as this game ended 2-1.
Edison advances to play Oak Glenn on Saturday in the finals.
Martins Ferry vs. Burnsville
The game of the day at I470 fields was definitely the Ferry Barnesville matchup.
Ferry squeaked this one out in the end 5-4.
It appeared the Purple Riders were just going to cruise to an easy win when this game stared scoring 4 in the first inning. All of these coming off of just one hit. That hit was by Ferry’s Avery Hughes as she hit a shot into right field to drive in two of the runners.
Barnesville was not going to go quiet into the night when in the sixth Lily Welch, Madelynn Tyson, Ellie Thompson, Peyton Dudzik, and Katelyn Arigoni all added came alive for the SOX to knot the score at 4-4.
It was in the 7th when Ella Mcfarland reached base on an error. That’s when Kendly Brandon enter the game a s a pinch runner. After a walk she advanced to second. Then finally Abby Snedecker blasts a shot passed the shortstop to score Brandon and send ferry to the finals.
Martins Ferry will play Caldwell in the finals Saturday.
Oak Glen vs Harrison County
The story of the Oak Glen game was Lizzie Kell who struck out 14 and only gave up one hit helping the Golden Bears win this one going away 8-0.
Sarah Brown earned herself 2 RBIs when she hit a home run driving in both Sydney Brown and Lizzie Kell. This also help Oak Glenn have a monstrous 4th inning where they scored a total of 7 runs.
Given the grove Kell was in that was all that was needed.
Oak Glen will face Edison Saturday for the OVAC 4A crown.
