Good Things Come in Threes? For Conotton Valley this seems so. For the third consecutive year Conotton Valley is walking away with the Tom Bechtel 1A OVAC softball championship.
Last night Conotton Valley squared off against Frontier at Wheeling Park high School. The game had to be moved from the I-470 fields due to weather.
Side note: ALL OVAC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES SCHEDULED FOR SATURADY ARE NOW AT WHEELING PARK. There will be a shuttle from the parking lot to the game in case you are wondering. Park has a turf field that lets the games to play played regardless of the rain we received yesterday.
Now back to the story. Conotton Valley’s pitching was the story here. Masy Baker completely dominated Frontier keeping them scoreless on the day and helping Conotton Valley cruise to an easy 10-0 on the day. Her numbers on the day were outstanding. She only faced 2 more batters than the minimum because she only allowed one walk on the day. Another astonishing fact is she went up 0-1 to 13 out of the 17 batters she faced. She had 12 strikeouts on the day.
Baker also did damage at the plate when she crushed a 3-run homer in the fifth inning contributing to the overall 5 runs Conotton Valley had that inning. Chole Stuber and Maddie Keely also had runs that inning as well.
This was a very good team win and hats off to the Rockets. We look forward to the other softball games to wrap up the OVAC tournament today.
