Offensive Player of the Week
Dereck Downs a freshman for Wheeling Jesuit University out of Toronto, Ontario/Hill Academy, has been named the offensive player of the week.
Downs was terrific for the Cardinals in a 1-1 week. The freshman racked up seven goals and a pair of assists as Wheeling Jesuit split games against Florida Institute of Technology and Chestnut Hill College. In the victory over the Griffins, Downs put in three tallies and dished out an assist to lead his squad to a 10-7 win.
Wheeling Jesuit split a pair of contests last week to move to 4-2 overall this season. Following a 12-9 loss to Florida Institute of Technology, the Cardinals rebounded with a 10-7 win over Chestnut Hill College. ECAC Offensive Player of the Week, Dereck Downs (Toronto, Ontario) led the way with three goals and an assist in the victory. Freshman Collin Smith (Plymouth, Mich.) registered the victory in net, making 12 saves.
