MORGANTOWN, WV– ESPN’s College GameDay Show will broadcast live from the West Virginia University Mountainlair Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 24.
GameDay Show tapings for various ESPN Networks will begin on Friday, Sept. 23, at 8 a.m., and will run through the afternoon. ESPNU will broadcast the show on Saturday morning from 9-10 a.m., while ESPN’s main portion will follow from 10 a.m. – noon.
Fans will be allowed into the GameDay compound on Saturday beginning at 7 a.m. All fans are invited to attend the tapings on both days. Access to the GameDay set will be prohibited from the interior of the Mountainlair Building. ESPN College GameDay will have final approval on all signs and apparel that are permitted in and around the set.
The following are prohibited in the pit area directly behind the College GameDay stage: alcohol, food, drinks, footballs, hard helmets, signs on sticks or polls, large bags and backpacks. All signs must be hand-held. Small purses will be allowed into the pit area.
Fans wishing to hold appropriate signs and flags on sticks or poles will be permitted to outside of the pit area. Due to the set’s central location on the WVU downtown campus, several parking and traffic restrictions will be in place. Parking on Prospect Street will be prohibited beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday evening, Sept. 21, through Saturday at 5 p.m.
Maiden Lane will be closed to vehicle traffic and parking beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, with normal traffic set to resume at p.m. Saturday. North High Street parking will be prohibited beginning at 5 p.m on Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday. The street will be closed to vehicle traffic on Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The PRT will run on Saturday from 8 a.m., until one hour after the game. There is no charge for PRT service on game days. The Spruce Street and University Avenue parking garages will be open on Saturday. The rate is 50 cents per hour at the Spruce Street Garage, and 75 cents per hour at the University Avenue garage.
This weekend marks the first time ESPN’s popular traveling college football show has selected WVU. The undefeated No. 16/16 Mountaineers will take on undefeated No. 2/3 LSU on Saturday in a nationally televised primetime telecast that will air on ABC (Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit) and will kick off at 8 p.m.
WVU defeated Maryland 37-31 last Saturday to run its record to 3-0, while LSU topped Mississippi State 19-6 last Thursday to also improve to 3-0.
