The PAC 8 Conference has completed their fall championship season. These sports start in the heat of August and end in the cool fall temperatures in October and November. Teams from Marshall County (Cameron, Moundsville, and Sherrard middle schools), Ohio County (Bridge Street, Triadelphia, Warwood, and Wheeling middle schools), and Brook County (Brooke Middle School) compete with each other in the regular season in cheering, cross country, football, and volleyball. In football and volleyball, they compete in the regular season, then in a playoff to determine a champion. In cheering and cross country, they compete in a competition and meet respectively.
Cross Country
Cross country was the first championship event held. This meet was held and Brooke High School on a beautiful fall afternoon. On the boys side the Sherrard Rams brought home a PAC Championship with a great fivesome of Carson Fitzpatrick, Jacob Carman, Chase Fromhart, Lane Icard, and Chase Wise. As individuals they finished 2nd, 4th, 7th, 15th, and 16th, respectively. The Rams finished with the low score of 42 points overall. Coming in runners-up with a can’t be closer score of 43 were the Warwood Vikings. This team was led by Rylan Moore, Tristan Gonzalez, Conner Annett, Asher Deal, and Jacob Breitinger. Gavin Scott from Brooke Middle School was the overall champion with a blistering time of 10:39. Carson Fitzpatrick of Sherrard finished 2nd overall with a time of 11:06.
Moving over to the girls’ side of the event we had another one-point team victory the Triadelphia Raiders edged the Sherrard Rams by finishing with a low point total of 29 versus Sherrard’s 30. Place scorers for the Raiders were McKeena Guthoerl (who finished 2nd overall with a time of 11:59), Brenna Tipton, Erin Thomas, Olivia Hengler, Elli Robinson. The runners-up were led by overall champion Zoe Zervos who finished with an incredible time of 11:28. Other Sherrard place winners were Kalyn Reese, Lillian Williams, Alexis Kimberly, and Jayla Brown. Great job to all the teams, one of the closest championship events in PAC 8 history on both the boys’ and girls’ sides.

Football
Making the switch to JV/Varsity for football only in the PAC 8 this season, gave us just a varsity champion. The matchup was between the Brooke Bruins and the Triadelphia Raiders. The Brooke Bruins came in with an undefeated conference record, where Triadelphia only suffered one conference loss to Brooke. A cool autumn evening at Monarch Stadium was the setting for this championship showdown. The first quarter was a defensive battle with neither team being able to dent the scoreboard. Triadelphia broke into the scoring column first with a Jay Bordas to Owen Abraham 42-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion to give the Raiders a 8-0 advantage. Triadelphia scored again on a 58-yard touchdown run by Dustin Sanner and with the Michael Neider 2-point conversion Triadelphia extended their lead to 16-0. Brooke went to the air to score on their next possession with a Andrew Petrella to Grand Yost touchdown pass and with the 2 point run by Cory Maynard to pull the #1 seed Bruins to within 8. Sanner for Triadelphia got the Raiders on the board again with a 55-yard touchdown run, Jay Bordas hit Dustin Sanner for the 2 to put Triadelphia ahead 24-8. Not giving up on the game the Bruins battled back to score again to close the score to 24-14. Yet, Brooke could not get any closer giving up a late touchdown to Dustin Sanner to make the final score 30-14 in favor of the Raiders. Triadelphia brings home the first PAC 8 Varsity Football Championship.
Cheering
The final PAC 8 Championship for the fall season was the cheering competition. Brooke Middle School was packed for the event, that saw 6 of the PAC 8 schools compete. The competition was close as all of the schools put on great routines. They were able to get the crowd into their routines and to show off the athletic abilities. Brooke Middle was able to pull out the victory with an almost flawless routine. Finishing runners-up were the Sherrard Rams, who too pulled off a near perfect routine. A great job goes out to all of the teams who put on unbelievable performances for the crowd.
That wraps up another great PAC 8 fall season of athletics. Thanks to all of the host schools for making these experiences for these young athletes a memorable one. Now let’s look forward to see what the winter sports season brings to the PAC 8 with both boys’ and girls’ basketball and our wrestling teams.
