Jordan Fee, a Grove City, Pa. native who played the past two seasons at the University of Detroit, has transferred to West Liberty University and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with Coach Jim Crutchfield’s Hilltoppers.
“Jordan is a young man we recruited pretty heavily coming out of high school,” said Crutchfield, who is coming off his sixth consecutive 20-win season at the West Liberty helm. “We have a lot of experienced players returning but we think Jordan will be a pretty good fit for us.”
Fee, a 6-3 point guard, played in 34 games with the Titans over the past two seasons and also was selected to play for a University Select Team which toured several countries in Eastern Asia between his freshman and sophomore years.
The former Pennsylvania all-stater scored a career-high 6 points during a game at Central Michigan on Dec. 23, 2008 and played a career-high 22 minutes in a loss to Butler on Jan. 8, 2009.
“Jordan didn’t score a lot at Detroit because that wasn’t his role,” Crutchfield said, “but he had 1,400 points in high school so we know he can score. The thing about Jordan is that he has the knack of making everybody around him better, which is a great asset in our system.”
Fee was a four-year starter at Grove City (Pa.) High School and helped lead the Eagles to 95 wins during his stellar career. He led Grove City to the Pennsylvania “Final Four” as a junior in 2007 with five of the Eagles’ six tournament victories coming in overtime.
A two-time All-District selection, Fee was the District 10 Player of the Year as a junior and earned All-State honors as a senior. He spent one year at the U.S. Air Force Academy Prep School in Colorado Springs, Colo.
“Our system isn’t that easy to pick up so we don’t usually come up with a lot of transfers,” Crutchfield said, “but Jordan’s the son of a coach and has two years of Division I experience under his belt so the learning curve may not be as steep for him. We’re very pleased Jordan is coming to West Liberty.”
