With over 20 major D1 programs to choose from, Michael Ferns has been in a recruiting position that no other St. Clairsville football player has ever been in. Only heading into his Junior year, Ferns has been considered one of the top recruits in not only Ohio, but Nationwide for the class of 2014.
Being recruitied as a Linebacker, Ferns has a unique skill set that includes speed, size, and athleticism, which makes him very appealing at the collegiate level. Depending on how much weight he puts on, his speed and athleticism will allow him to play any position on the football field. Already standing at 6’3″, 235lbs – Ferns is only 16 years old with plenty of growth potential ahead.
Having narrowed his final choices to Notre Dame, Penn State, and Michigan – Ohio Valley Athletics has learned that Ferns is expected to commit to the University of Michigan in the near future.
The Ohio Valley has never had a football player garner this much national attention… ever. As exciting as this whole process has been for the Ferns family, St. Clairsville, and whole Ohio Valley – there is 1 person even more excited, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke.
Hoke has already assembled what many consider to be the #1 recruiting class in the country with plenty of all-star athletes in his future pipeline. Hoke’s biggest wish is about to come true as he has had Ferns ranked top among his recruiting wishlist for the incoming class of 2014.
Though we’re Ohio State supporters by location – Ohio Valley Athletics would like to be the first to congratulate Ferns for choosing the University of Michigan!
