Despite the heartbreaking loss to Louisville, quarterback Geno Smith can take some solace in knowing his performance earned him the Big East Offensive Player of the Week. Smith, a junior, threw for over 400 yards for the third time this season as he went 31-44 for 410 yards and three touchdowns. The game yardage ranks fifth on West Virginia’s all-time list and gives him 6,197 career yards passing, second in school history. Smith leads the Big East and is seventh nationally in passing with 347.2 yards per game. While Smith would love to trade his personal accolades for a team win, it’s still quite a honor.
