A guilty verdict has been decided in the rape case involving 2 juvenile athletes from Steubenville High School.
In a none jury trial, Judge Thomas Lipps ruled on the decision of the case.
Ma’Lik Richmond, 16, and Trent Mays, 17, entered the trial denying all charges against them. Each teen was charged with assaulting the West Virginia girl, first in the back seat of a moving car after a party Aug. 11, and then in the basement of a house.
Mays was also charged and found guilty of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.
Bob Fitzsimmons, a lawyer for the girl’s family, said, “The family wants this matter over so they can move on with their lives and their daughter’s healing.”
