Herd That is one step closer to winning the TBT and the $1,000,000 that goes along with it. With their win today over Sideline Cancer, Herd That won the West Virginia Regional of the TBT. They need 3 more wins to be crowned TBT champions and collect that oversized check.
After the 1st quarter Herd That led 21-13 and never relinquished the lead after that in winning 73-64. Sideline Cancer was able to keep it close throughout the contest, but Herd That never wavered. Each time Sideline Cancer would get close Herd That would come up with a big stop on defense and a bucket on the other end to keep Sideline Cancer at bay.
Jon Elmore was the standout player for Herd That, exhibiting an impressive all-around performance. He scored 17 points, dished out 3 assists, grabbed 3 rebounds, and even contributed a crucial block on the defensive end. Elmore’s ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor proved pivotal for his team.
Backing up Elmore’s efforts, James Kelly and JP Tokoto made significant contributions to the victory. Both players scored 12 points apiece, with Kelly also pulling down 4 rebounds and Tokoto adding 4 boards and an assist to his stat line.
Taevion Kinsey also played a crucial role, chipping in with 10 points and 2 rebounds. Kinsey’s scoring and defensive efforts further bolstered Herd That’s position throughout the game.
Jarrod West, known for his outstanding performances at Clarksburg Notre Dame, displayed his versatility in this matchup. He contributed 5 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds, displaying his ability to impact the game in multiple ways.
Notably, West showcased his clutch gene with two crucial plays. He ended the first half with a dramatic layup at the buzzer, providing Herd That with a much-needed momentum boost heading into the break. Then, at the end of the third period, West hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer, leaving the crowd in awe and solidifying his reputation as a big-time performer in critical moments.
Herd That’s victory over Sideline Cancer was a testament to their team chemistry and determination. With key performances from Jon Elmore, James Kelly, JP Tokoto, Taevion Kinsey, and Jarrod West, they demonstrated their potential to go deep into the TBT tournament.
Next up for Herd That is Boeheim’s Army who moved on with a 69-54 victory over Blue Collar U. The winner of this one will move on to the Final Four in Philadelphia. Come out to support Herd That tomorrow Sunday July 30th at Wesbanco Arena with a 4:00 tip.
