WHEELING, W. Va. – Wheeling Jesuit earned its first league win by posting a 97-92 victory over Shepherd in a huge league game.
The Cardinals connected on 50 percent of their shots from the floor (33-of-66), and made 10 three-point tries. WJU also sank 21 charity tosses. The Cardinals out-rebounded the visitors 45-38.
The Rams netted 40.6 percent of their attempts from the field (28-of-69) and made 11 three-point shots. SU also made 25-of-29 foul shots (86.2 percent) in the game.
WJU’s Justin Fritts posted a game-high 22 points and dished out seven assists for the victors. Darin Harris added 17 points off the bench and pulled down nine boards while Recardo Gaddy totaled 16 markers. Joe Prati earned a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds while Eric Siefert connected on 12 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Ben Siefert narrowly missed another triple-double with eight points, seven rebounds and a game-high 10 assists.
Austin Cunningham paced the Rams with his team-high 20 points. Chad Moore notched another double-double with 18 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Morgan McDonald tallied 16 points while Brantley Osborne connected for 14 points. Marcus Pilgrim and Aeron Spencer each had nine points off the bench.
