Wheeling, WW -On Tuesday evening, the Wheeling Jesuit men’s soccer team evened the score in the 55th minute, but the home standing Blue Knights of Urbana University netted two late goals, capturing a 3-1 victory in Urbana, Ohio.
Luke Roan netted the equalizer in the second half of the Cardinals non-conference affair against the Blue Knights. Wheeling Jesuit slightly edge Urbana in shots, 17-16, while the returned the favor in corner kick attempts, 6-2.
Mark Whittle started the scoring in the 24th minute which was assisted by Tyler Wason, and Urbana held a 1-0 lead at the break. After the break and Jesuit’s first goal, the duo of Whittle and Watson hooked-up in the 58th minute for what proved to be the game winner. Late in the game, Wason added the insurance goal.
Wheeling Jesuit goalkeeper Cody Thompson recorded eight saves while Urbana’s Darragh McGinley stopped nine shots.
The Cardinals will travel to Elkins, WV for a league game against Davis & Elkins College on Saturday, September 24th. Kick off is sated for 2:00 p.m.
