Buckhannon, WV, February 14, 2011—West Virginia Wesleyan College scored 42 first-half points on Monday evening, building a 13-point halftime advantage which proved to be too much to overcome as the Lady Cardinals fell 75-56.
Wheeling Jesuit shot 32 percent from the field while Wesleyan made 50 percent of their field goals. The battle of the boards ended in the Lady Bobcats favor, 43-36, as they improved to 11-6 in league play and 14-7 overall, and the Lady Cards moved to 5-14 in the WVIAC and 6-17 overall.
Three Lady Cardinals turned in double-digit scoring performances and led the team’s rebounding efforts. Kourtney Booth recorded a team-high 13 points and pulled down six boards while Bridget Buskirk followed with 11 points and five rebounds.
Lauren Myers rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points and added team-high nine rebounds as Megan Stuvek and Jenn Rennell each chipped in seven points – Stuvek finished with four rebounds.
For the Lady Bobcats, Lydia Bridenbaugh recorded a double-double, pouring in 22 points coupled with 13 rebounds while Jamie Kaufman and Danae Hill followed in points, scoring 21 and 15, respectively.
The Lady Cardinals will host Ohio Valley University on Thursday, February 17th for Senior Night. In addition, the Lady Cards will be supporting WBCA Pink Zone Breast Cancer Awareness drive with all proceeds being donated to the Kay Yow Foundation. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:15 p.m.
