The Kansas City Command arena football Team is ready to start the 2012 season with a pair of local football connections; Ryan Travis, and Nate Davis.
Ryan Travis, a graduate of West Liberty University, was a consensus 1st Team Division II All-American in both 2009 and 2010. Travis led Division II in receptions his senior year, while also tying the Division II single-season record for touchdowns by a tight end. Travis finished his college career as the fifth leading Division II receiver all-time in NCAA history.
Travis signed as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks shortly after the 2011 NFL draft, but was waived just before the start of the regular season.
Nate Davis, a graduate of Bellaire High School, continued his playing career at Ball State, before being drafted in the 5th round by the San Francisco 49ers in 2009.
While at Bellaire, Davis was a three-time all-state performer, finishing his prep career with school passing records of 7,348 yards and 81 touchdowns.
Davis continued to make a name for himself at Ball State with a 22-12 career record, included a 12 win season in 2008. In that year Davis passed for 3,446 yards, and 26 touchdowns.
Most recently, Davis was also a member of the Seattle Seahawks. Davis was briefly signed to an off season contract, but was waived before pre-season camp began.
