MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team prepares to cap the nonconference portion its schedule when it welcomes Villanova to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium in Morgantown on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. ET.
Sunday’s match against the Wildcats is Youth Soccer Day, and free admission will be granted for children in a youth soccer team jersey. The Mountaineers also will host a post-match youth clinic and autographs.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by visiting WVUGAME.com or calling 1-800-WVU GAME. When purchasing online, tickets are $5 each. Any remaining tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors at the stadium ticket window on match day.
WVU student tickets also will be made available at the Mountaineer Ticket Office, located at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The office, as well as the stadium gates, opens at 12 p.m., on game day. WVU students are admitted for free with a valid WVU Student I.D.

The Mountaineers are coming off a 1-1 draw against Auburn on Sept. 7, in Morgantown. The two teams were scoreless after the first half, but sophomore Taylor White broke through in the 52nd minute to put the Mountaineers on the board first. However, Auburn drew even in the 66th minute for the final 1-1 result.
Auburn led the Mountaineers in shots, 11-7, and corner kicks, 6-3, while the teams were level with five shots on goal apiece. White led the WVU attack with the goal and a pair of shots, while fifth-year senior goalkeeper Kayza Massey grabbed four saves in the contest.
White leads the team with four goals and nine points this season, while junior forward Dilary Heredia-Beltran holds the team lead in assists (3) and shots (18).
Sunday’s contest marks the 22nd meeting all-time between West Virginia and Villanova, as the Mountaineers hold an 11-5-5 lead in the series. The former Big East foes are set to square off for the first time since 2015. WVU and Villanova met for the first time in West Virginia’s inaugural season in 1996, with the Wildcats taking a 4-2 win in Villanova, on Oct. 30.
In the last meeting, the Mountaineers secured a record-setting, 8-0 victory in Morgantown on Sept. 6, 2015. WVU’s eight goals in the contest matched a program record, which stood until this year’s squad bested the total with nine goals against Saint Francis on Aug. 20. The team’s eight assists and 24 total points remain the top marks in program history. Michaela Abam accounted for a program-record four goals in the contest, while Kailey Utley added a program-best four assists.
Samar Azem is in her second season as the head coach of the Villanova women’s soccer program, leading the Wildcats to an overall mark of 7-8-6. Villanova enters Sunday’s match with a 3-0-2 record this season, coming off a 3-0 win against George Mason on Sept. 3. Jackie Richards and Makayla Stadler lead the team with two goals on the year, while four different players have tallied two assists this season. In goal, goalkeeper Payton Woodward has notched 12 saves on the year.
