WHEELING, WV – Upset about the current NFL lockout situation? The Wheeling Nailers are giving fans the chance to voice their concerns (or show their support) to the NFL and NFLPA during the Saturday April 2nd home game versus the Toledo Walleye at 7:35pm.
During the game fans will be invited to record a video message to the NFL and NFLPA, which will be sent to both the NFL and NFLPA as well as national media outlets ESPN and NFL Network.
The Nailers also are doing their part to help the situation by formally inviting NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith to come to the game and continue negotiations. Spike, the team’s mascot, has even agreed to mediate an agreement.
To support all, now unemployed, current NFL Players the Nailers will hold a try out after the game for the athletes to try their hand at professional hockey. The team will also provide free tickets, hot dogs, and Pepsi for the players and the players’ immediate families.
Making light of the current labor struggle and work stoppage in the NFL, the Nailers have created various promotions for this night to benefit both the hockey and football fan!
• Wear an NFL Jersey and get $5 off adult gate price ($1 for each billion of the roughly $5 billion paid annually to NFL Players).
• Show any union card or proof of owning a business at the WesBanco Arena box office and get $5 off adult gate price.
• Anyone that owns a TV larger than Jerry Jones’ 160 feet x 72 feet video board gets in free.
• In the event that the NFL Lockout is resolved by April 2nd, all fans in attendance will receive a free ticket to a future Nailers game and be entered to win 4 tickets to a future NFL game.
• In honor of the $9 billion in NFL yearly revenues, the 9 Billionth Fan to attend the game will win the grand prize – ownership of the Nailers.
“ Obviously when the most widely followed League shuts down, it creates a large outcry and we want to provide fans a safe and fun forum to let their feelings be known and heard,” said Nailers President Jim Brooks.
