Just two weeks ago I had the opportunity of attending a Next Level Football (nextlevelfootball.com) combine at Moeller High School in Cincinnati, and I was impressed, to say the least.
I didn’t quite understand the concept of a combine before I attended one.
The Next Level Football staff is full of outstanding and credible coaching talent; with High School, College, and Professional experience. At first, it was surprising that I didn’t see more “coaching” taking place, but after talking with Next Level Football President, Jason Rine, I understood that their position is to evaluate players, not necessarily coach them during the combine.
With that said, it was truly impressive to see so many prep athletes taking their athletic career seriously, and being proactive in their development and recruiting process.
Speaking with Rine, an Ohio Valley native himself, we talked about the potential of brining a combine back home to expose and discover the local talent. Rine commented:
I’m really excited for our upcoming Combine at Wheeling Island in mid June. After traveling Columbus, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Atlanta, Chicago, and several other larger cities this summer, it’s exciting that we are able to bring this event back home to the Ohio Valley so we can showcase our local talent. I’m expecting upward towards 100 athletes!
Next Level Football helps evaluate a players ability, and give college coaches an accurate report on their ability to excel at the Next Level. All told, Next Level football has helped high school athletes make their college dreams become a reality since 2005.
Athletes participating in the combine will be tested in the following drills:
- 40 yard dash
- Standing Broad Jump
- Pro Agility Shuttle
- Vertical Jump
- Height/Weight
Based upon the results of those drills, the athletes will be given an “AAT” score to help evaluate their abilities. Athletes will receive press/recognition through several different media outlets that Next Level Football has partnered with, including, but certainly not limited to; ESPN, 24/7, MaxPreps, USA TODAY, Rivals, and Scout.
