Cass Tech stud running back Michael Weber officially became a Buckeye on Wednesday, when he announced his plans to stick with Ohio State despite a late push by Michigan.
A former Michigan commitment, Weber had a change of heart during his recruiting process after committing to the Wolverines on Aug. 6 following an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor. Just a few months later, on Nov. 22, Weber announced he was opening up his recruitment again. Only a couple of weeks later, Weber committed to Ohio State on Dec. 10 and has never looked back from there, fending off the late charge from Michigan once Jim Harbaugh was named head coach.
The 5’9, 219-pound running back is a four-star under the 247Sports Composite rankings and is ranked as the ninth-best running back in the recruiting class, in addition to being the second-best prospect at any position from the state of Michigan. Weber is the lone true running back in Ohio State’s recruiting class, but is a talented prospect that will fight for playing time.
In his senior year of high school, Weber rushed for 2,268 yards and 29 touchdowns in an impressive final season. Weber was also selected as a member for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
