The Pirates were dropped on their face tonight in their 7-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves. The loss was mostly a product of very subpar pitching by Ross Ohlendorf who is now 0-2. Ohlendorf pitched 3 and 2/3 innings tonight and gave up six runs on seven hits. His six runs would decide the game early, as the Pirates would not rebound from the early run production.
Karstins was brought in relief in the fourth and would pitch until the eight when Carrasco replaced him. Karstins faired much better than Ohlendorf only giving up one run on a hit and two walks, but the game was to far gone for the Pirates batters.
The Pirates went cold early, perhaps resigned to their loss. After the third inning the Pirates would not even get men into scoring position. Braves staring pitcher, Tim Hudson dominated the Pirates pitching eight scoreless innings and allowing only three hits. Hudson has now pitched 22 innings without yielding an earned run against the Pirates, a record dating back to last season.
The Pirates will hopefully bounce back from this bad win tomorrow evening as they continue the series at PNC Park.
