There is a lot of finger pointing, and speculation taking place within the WVU football offices. The battle is between West Virginia native and WVU Head Coach Bill Stewart, and Offensive Coordinator Dana Holgorsen.
Holgorsen caught national media last week after being asked to leave a Casino in West Virginia for being too intoxicated. Several other incidents have come to light since then, of Holgorsen being associated with alcohol related incidents.
It is being rumored that Stewart is the lead voice behind these other incidents catching attention, with allegations that Stewart is trying to compromise the future of Holgorsen at WVU.
WVU athletic director Oliver Luck address the situation today, with the following statement:
There have been various reports, much speculation, and rumor around our football program and coaches. But I want to make it clear that I consider these to be personnel matters and while I take them very seriously, I am dealing with them internally and privately – and I will not discuss them publically.
Luck stressed that the Football staff will not lose focus of expectations:
What I will say is that our athletic department coaches and staff are clear that their focus is on the program, the team and a successful season. My expectations of all our coaches and staff have not wavered; that is to run a clean and honest program with the utmost integrity and professionalism. Anything less is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.
The “investigation” is still pending for WVU, with an outcome expected to be reached within the week.
