PITTSBURGH — The Pirates and right-hander Chris Resop agreed to terms on Friday on a one-year contract for the 2012 season, avoiding arbitration. The deal is reported to be for $850,000.
Resop along with six other Pirates are arbitration-eligible this offseason and have until January 18th to come up with a deal. If both sides can not come to an agreement, the hearing will take place in front of an arbitrator. Those hearings take place in February.
Resop, 29, posted a 4.39 ERA over 76 games (69.2 innings) with Pittsburgh during the 2011 season.
Among those still eligible this offseason include Joel Hanrahan, Garrett Jones, Jeff Karstens, Evan Meek, Casey McGehee and Charlie Morton.
