Here’s a look at what everyone is doing in the Pirates Minor League circuit.
Indianapolis (47-25) 1st in International League West – In addition to having the best record in the International League, Indianapolis leads the league in ERA (3.32), shutouts (seven) and saves (26)…The team is also tied for the fewest home runs allowed (48) in the league…Three pitchers rank in the top 10 in the league in ERA (Gerrit Cole – 5th, 2.91, Andy Oliver – 7th, 3.04 and Kris Johnson – 10th, 3.07)…Andy Oliver ranks second in the league in strikeouts (79) and batting average against (.202)…Tony Sanchez ranks fifth in the league in slugging percentage (.566)… Sanchez has hit safely in six straight and nine of his last 10 games…Felix Pie is second in the league in stolen bases (26)…Matt Hague is fifth in the league in hits (78).
Altoona (31-37) 6th/6GB in Eastern League Western – The Curve have won six straight and are 10-3 in the month of June…Jameson Taillon ranks sixth in the Eastern League in ERA (2.89), tied for second in strikeouts (77) and has allowed two earned runs or less in nine of his 13 starts…Casey Sadler ranks ninth in the league in ERA (3.08)…Nick Kingham struck out seven batters in 5.2 scoreless innings in his Double-A debut on Saturday and ranks second among Pirates farmhands in that cat- egory (82)…Jarek Cunningham is tied for second in the league in home runs (13) behind Andrew Lambo (14)…Lambo ranks second among all Pirates farmhands in home runs (16)…Gregory Polanco is 5-for-15 (.333) in four games since being promoted from Bradenton and leads all Pirates minor leaguers in stolen bases (27).
Bradenton (26-41) Finished 6th/19.5 GB in Florida State League South 1st Half – Alen Hanson is 10-for-20 in his last five games…He was also named the MVP of the Florida State League All-Star Game on Saturday…Taylor Lewis is tied for the league lead in triples…McKechnie Field in Bradenton has been selected to host the 2014 Florida State League All-Star Game.
West Virginia (37-33) Finished 3rd/2.5 GB in South Atlantic League Southern 1st Half – The Power will return to action tomorrow…Dilson Herrera, Stetson Allie and Walker Gourley each had a hit in last night’s South Atlantic League All-Star Game…Orlando Castro entered the All-Star break ranked third in the league in ERA (1.93) and WHIP (0.95)…Tyler Glasnow ranks fourth in the league in strikeouts (85) and second in batting average against (.143)…Stetson Allie is third in the league in home runs (17) and total bases (148), fourth in slugging (.607) and OBP (.414) and tied for first in RBI (61); his 61 RBI ranks tied for fourth in all of minor league baseball. He has been promoted to High-A Bradenton as of today.
Jamestown (2-0) 1st in New York Penn League Pinckney – The Jammers have posted back-to-back shutouts in their first two games as a Pirates affiliate…James- town wraps up its first road trip of the season tonight before playing its Home Opener tomorrow against Williamsport.
GCL Pirates – The GCL Pirates will begin defense of their 2012 league title on Friday against the GCL Yankees.
DSL Pirates – The DSL Pirates 1 team has posted a 6-9 record…The DSL Pirates 2 team has gone 7-7 so far this season. Carlos Munoz ranks fifth in the league in batting average (.386)…Yunelky Adames is tied for second in the league in home runs (four).
Pittsburgh’s seven affiliates currently in action have combined for a 156-152 record (.506 winning percentage).
