PITTSBURGH PIRATES 2013 TICKET PRICING FACT SHEET
OVERALL:
This season the Pirates average ticket price of $16.11 is third lowest in Major League Baseball, according to Team Marketing Report.
The Pirates average ticket price for 2013 will increase to $17.21 in 2013, which would still have been the fourth lowest average ticket price in MLB in 2012, according to Team Marketing Report.
The average ticket price for 2013 is more than 36 percent below the 2012 MLB average of $26.98, according to Team Marketing Report.
Even with this increase, the Pirates remain well below other teams in the Central Division. According to the 2012 Team Marketing Report research:
– Cardinals average ticket price in 2012 was more than 80 percent higher; o Brewers was 40 percent higher; o Reds was 19 percent higher than the Pirates.
SEASON TICKET HOLDER SAVINGS:
– Pirates season ticket prices will see the smallest increases
– Full season plan holders receive the deepest discounts off individual prices with savings between 50 and 14 percent, and an average savings of 27 percent.
– More than 50 percent of Pirates full season tickets can be purchased for less than $25 per ticket, while more than 35 percent can be purchased for less than $15 per ticket. VALUE PLANS:
– The Pirates maintained one of the lowest price points in all of professional sports with the team’s $449 Full Season Value Plan – which is an average of only $5.54 per ticket per game.
– The Pirates offer a total of five Full Season Value Plans ranging from $5.54 to $17.27 per ticket.
– Three of the Value Plans are available in the lower level for $1,399 in the Lower Outfield Box, $1,099 in the Outfield Box, and $799 in the Bleacher Reserved. The remaining two Value Plans are for $899 in the Grandstand, and $449 in the Upper Grandstand.
SEASON TICKET PACKAGES:
– The Pirates will continue to offer many season ticket packages in 2013
– 41-Game Weekend Plan – features every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday home game plus
Opening Day and one other game
– 20-Game Plans – fans can choose from the following:
– 20 Game Saturday Plan
– 20 Game Sunday Plan
– 20 Game Weekday Plan
– 10 Game Plans – fans can choose from the following:
– 10 Game Saturday
– 10 Game Sunday
– 10 Game Weekday
INDIVIDUAL TICKET BUYERS:
– Tickets in more than 35 percent of the ballpark can be purchased for $25 or less on an individual ticket purchase basis.
– Fans can still purchase tickets for as low as $12.
– A family of four can sit in the upper grandstand for 67 games between the bases for a total of only $38 ($12 for each adult ticket, $7 for each kid ticket), and $50 for one of 14 Premium games ($15 per adult ticket, $10 per kids ticket) PREMIUM GAMES:
– The Pirates will designate Opening Day and all Saturday Home Games as Premium Games where tickets will be sold at a slightly higher price due to heavy demand.
– The variable pricing concept is one that has been around for years in professional sports. In Major League Baseball more than 12 teams have either premium games or full variable pricing models.
– The Pirates 10 Saturday games at PNC Park this season have averaged 36,393 with 8 sellouts.
– 16 of the last 20 Saturday games at PNC Park have sold out, with 19 out of 23 expected by end of season.
