With the approval news of Pittsburgh and Syracuse’s ACC acceptance, the spotlight is now on a contract agreement that requires a 24 month notice to fully withdraw from Big East competiition.
Experts assume that in an effort to control the media damage, the Big East may waive the 24 month waiting period.
Where does this leave WVU and the future of the Big East? A reserved Oliver Luck commented:
There is no question that the landscape of college athletics is once again changing. West Virginia University has great tradition as the state’s flagship land-grant institution, and we will continue working to do what’s best for our University and its athletic teams. No matter how the college athletic landscape changes, there is no doubt WVU is and will remain a national player.
WVU head football coach Dana Holgorsen avoided the question when asked what he thought about the recent news:
I’ve had a busy couple of days myself. We took care of business yesterday, and obviously there is no time to rest or relax. We’ve had afull day today getting the Maryland game over with and moving on to the next one, which happens to be LSU.
While there is much speculation that WVU is exploring their exit options, however nothing official has been released from the University or the Big East Conference.
