Antonio Brown finished up the morning practice on Wednesday and I caught up with him in the Steelers South Side locker room asking him the following questions:
(on how it feels coming from growing up in South Florida to being in his second year as a wide receiver for the Steelers): “It has been an amazing journey that I have been on. I try to keep my eyes up, my chest up, stay prayed up and keep my vision to keep going ahead.”
(on whether he thought that he would end up where he is now while playing with the Central Michigan Chippewas): “I had a great draft and a great meeting process with the Steelers and championship coaches, the same kind that I had at Central Michigan when I was there. I have had the opportunity to be a part of some things that may be really greater than me and I am just thankful to be a part of it.”
(on who he rooted for in the NFL growing up): “I always liked the Cowboys back in the Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, Emmitt Smith days.”
(on the influence that Steelers WR Hines Ward has had on him): “You just learn a hard head mentality and a guy who is passionate about the game who comes out and proves his stuff and proves his love for the game. To see a guy who has been doing it that long and still have that same hunger and that same chip on his shoulder, that’s something special and a tremendous asset to him and I continue to watch and learn that from him day in and day out.”
(on catching passes from QB Ben Roethlisberger): “Amazing, another championship guy, another talented guy. Something special to be on the receiving end from a guy such as him.”
(on his experience in playing in the Super Bowl last season in his rookie season): “It was one of the best experiences of my life. I had a chance to invite all of my brothers and gave them a chance to experience one of the highest games on the highest level on earth. It was an amazing experience for me and a good opportunity.”
