Wheeling –The Wheeling Jesuit men’s and women’s indoor track teams experienced a great deal of success this season, breaking multiple school records and setting numerous personal best records. In addition, Megan Pratt and Emily Taylor’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed as their performances ranked among the region’s best, earning places on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Inaugural All-Region Team.
Pratt is currently the Atlantic Region’s top performer in the weight throw with a distance of 17.75m (58’3”) which stands as a new WJU record and was achieved on February 25th at the Armory Collegiate Challenge in New York. At the same meet, Pratt set the WJU record in the shot put as well. Her throw of 13.66m (44’ 9.75”) catapulted her into second place of the region behind Kutztown’s April Doyle.
Taylor landed on the Atlantic Region’s Top Five in the shot put event with a throw of 12.87m (42’ 2.75”) at the WVU Holiday Classic on December 4, 2010 – The first meet of the indoor season. She competed in four total meets before suffering a foot injury which ultimately ended her indoor season.
To earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be ranked in the top five of their respective event(s) while relay teams must finish in the region’s top three. A total of 1,039 athletes were represented on the first All-Region Team.
