It’s been a long time since St. Clairsville has had an athlete, let alone a football player get this much collegiate attention. Only entering his junior year, Michael Ferns has taken it all in stride, carefully considering and evaluating nearly every school that’s contact him.
Over 20 schools have directly shown interest in Ferns, including Ohio State, Oklahoma, Purdue, Stanford, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Michigan, Cincinnati, Boston College, and Penn State – just to name a few.
After spending the better half of the past 6 months making unofficial visits, Ferns believes that he has eliminated nearly 20 schools from contention, narrowing the short list to 3 potential schools.
- Penn State
- Notre Dame
- Michigan
With two years left to play for the Red Devils, Ferns is anxious to get on the field and show why he’s been so highly recruited.

On the receiving end on a lot of those passes was Jerrid Marhefka. As a junior, Marhefka was named 1st Team All Defense in Ohio in 2011.
In the backfield, the Devils return Jaylon Brown. Last year in his sophomore campaign, Brown rushed for 870 yards, and 11 touchdown while earning 2nd Team All State honors.
