IRVING, Texas – Seniors Tavon Austin (West Virginia), Kenny Cain (TCU) and Ryan Doerr (K-State) have been named Big 12 Football Players of the Week, as selected by a media panel. All three earned their first Conference weekly honor.

Tavon Austin caught 13 passes for 179 yards and three touchdowns in West Virginia’s 31-21 win over Maryland. The 13 receptions matched a school record set last week by Stedman Bailey. The receiving yardage was the second-highest of Austin’s career and marked the second consecutive game, and ninth in his career, in which he has recorded over 100 yards. Austin’s touchdown receptions covered 44, 24 and 34 yards, giving him five scoring catches on the season and 22 for his career. The senior set the WVU career record for receptions in the fourth quarter and ended the game with 208. He is now tied at No. 2 on the career touchdown receptions chart with 22 and also moved up to No. 2 in career receiving yards with 2,469.
