WEXFORD – Bethany College senior Andrea Thomas (Toronto, Ohio) has been selected as the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Hitter of the Week for March 21.
Now a four-year starter at third base, Thomas batted .667 (14-21) as the Bison (7-3) went 4-2 to complete their spring break trip to Florida. In addition to getting at least two hits in five of the six games, she collected six RBIs, scored four runs and bashed a pair of doubles.
In the Bison’s first game last week, Thomas went 4-for-5 with one RBI and scored the winning run in BC’s 10-9 victory in 11 innings over Transylvania March 14. She came right back in the second game of the day with a 2-for-3, one-RBI performance, as Bethany outlasted 13th-ranked Cortland State 4-2 in eight innings.
Thomas also sparked the Green and White’s last two wins of the week. In a 7-6 triumph over Saint Joseph (Conn.), she had three hits, including a double, one RBI and one run scored. Thomas then drove in three runs with a double and single, as the Bison blanked Mount Ida 8-0 in five innings.
Last week just continued a stellar start to Thomas’ senior year. In 10 games, she is leading the team in batting average (.545), slugging percentage (.667), on-base percentage (.583) and doubles (four) while ranking second with eight RBIs.
A physical education major, Andrea is the daughter of Ron & Ginger Thomas of Toronto, Ohio.
