WHEELING — How in the world is one supposed to choose winners and losers of high school football games, when they get postponed/canceled seemingly right up until kickoff. It’s happening with regularity these days. But the kids not getting to play is of far more importance than it making things difficult on me.
At any rate, the fastest 10 weeks of the calendar year is roaring into the second half, even though it feels as though we just got started. If things hold true to the way they are now, we’re going to have more than a handful of playoff entrants on both sides of the river. That’s great, because there is nothing like a playoff Friday night in the Ohio Valley, and everyone should get to experience it at some point.
With all that being said, let’s get to this weekend’s selections.
Friday
Brooke 27, Marietta 3
The Bruins haven’t been on the field lately, but they should pick up another victory here.
John Marshall 28, Buckhannon-Upshur 10
The Monarchs were one play away from knocking off South last weekend.
