WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty University senior Tori Hansen has been honored as a First-Team selection on the 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District 2 Women’s Basketball Team.
The 2010-11 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) to recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performance on the floor and in the classroom.
Hansen, a 5-9 guard from McKean, Pa., certainly qualifies in both areas.
A Mathematics Education major currently completing her student teaching requirement, Hansen has never received a grade lower than “A” at any point during her four-year college career.
She has been just as impressive on the court, earning second-team All-America honors as a junior and ranking among the nation’s top five scorers each of the past two seasons while filling up all the other boxes on the stat sheet.
Hansen, who recently became only the 10th 2,000-point scorer in West Virginia Conference history, is on pace to leave West Liberty as the school’s career leader in points and rebounds while ranking among the top five all-time in steals and assists.
The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The University Division teams include NCAA Division I participants, while the College Division teams combine NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
As a first-team Academic All-District selection, Hansen advances to the national Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where First, Second and Third Team Academic All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
