On Wednesday evening, the Wheeling Jesuit men’s basketball team (9-4, 6-4 WVIAC) returned to the Alma Grace McDonough Center for a non-conference game against Salem International University (8-8), defeating the Tigers 98-76.
WJU’s Steve Catich led the Cardinals to their third consecutive victory with 25 points on a 7-for-16 shooting performance. The junior from Tyrone, Pa. added a perfect 11-for-11 showing from the foul line while grabbing eight rebounds.
Also reaching double figures were Obi Ukwuoma and Recardo Gaddy. Ukwuoma finished 18 points and a team-high nine rebounds while Recardo Gaddy cashed in 13 points.
The Cardinals dominated the glass on both sides of the floor, out-rebounding the opponent 52-32 with 20 offensive boards and 32 defensive rebounds.
